Love and Money
FolkLove and Money Biography
Even though they originally split in 1994, the widespread affection in which Glasgow outfit Love and Money are still held was resoundingly demonstrated when their reunion show at Celtic Connections 2011 became one of the festival’s fastest sellouts.
Following a rapturous reception for this gig, initially intended as a one-off, frontman James Grant and his bandmates –fellow co-founder Paul McGeechan, subsequent recruits Gordon Wilson and Douglas MacIntyre and bassist Ewen Vernal – went on to announce not only an autumn tour but a brand new Love and Money album ‘Devil’s Debt’ , released in autumn 2012.
These recent shows revealed a band matching revitalised enthusiasm with seasoned maturity, performing a mercurial, edgily literate amalgam of soul, rock, jazz, funk, blues and country that sounds simultaneously fresh and classic.
